New gene identified which could prevent heart disease

A new gene found in 40% of african-americans has been shown to protect againts heart disease. The gene codes for an enzyme called GRK5 which has been shown to act in a similar way to beta blockers, by inhibiting the action of beta adrenergic receptors.
